This is part of an ongoing piece that was made in 2007 for a show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Every piece is executed on panel and are made to be displayed together…one linked to the next, consecutively. As of January 2019 there exists over 230 linear feet scattered among numerous private collections. (the largest, 4’h x 12’ w) Each piece reflects the time period in which it was made and depicts the current political and social environment in the United States during its creation. The text comes from overheard conversations, music lyrics, literature, the daily headlines, and the like….whatever I feel is pertinent to the moment in which it’s made. As an artist I also view myself as an historian. This ongoing piece is an attempt to capture the now. I see myself continuing to make it until the end of my days.
